Florence Marie Young

Florence M. Young, (85) an Air Force Veteran and wife of the late Emery W. Young Sr. passed away peacefully at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital on December 12, 2018. She was born in Long Branch, New Jersey to the late Josephine (Michinski) and Steven Fritz.

She retired in 1999 following a 25-year career as an Executive Secretary both at the military base in Hawaii and Groton.

Florence and Emery, a US Naval Officer, were married for 54 years and stationed in Groton, CT, Kansas City, MO, Rota, Spain, Key Port, WA and Oahu, Hawaii prior to his retirement.

Mrs. Young was a 42-year member and Past Matron of Deborah Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and a Past Grand Matron of Grand Chapter of RI, Order of Eastern Star.

She is survived by her four children and their spouses; Kathryn Shaw (Kevin), Emery W. Young Jr. (Jean), Kurt J. Young (Meg) and Patricia Lee Bodiford (Ben). In addition, she is survived by 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 3 siblings; Patricia Collins, Helen Frotten and Steven Fritz. She is also survived by a niece and Goddaughter, Debra L. Collins.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, December 14th from 4:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. at the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St. Westerly, RI. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, December 15, at 1:00 PM.
