Janice (Parkinson) Croasdale of Kingston, Rhode Island passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 4, 2022. She was the beloved wife of William Croasdale III.
Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, she was the daughter of Margaret and Norman Parkinson.
Jan attended high school in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, graduated with a B.A. in Education from Rhode Island College, and graduated with an M.A. from the University of Rhode Island with a Special Education Concentration from Salve Regina University. She began her career in education as an elementary school teacher for the North Kingstown School Department and later worked as an elementary teacher and special educator for the South Kingstown School District for many years. She was a devoted teacher to her students.
Jan was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. In addition to her husband, William Croasdale III, she leaves behind four children: William Croasdale IV and his wife, Alyce of South Kingstown; Kirsten DiMaio of Woodbury, Connecticut; Stephanie McKiernan and her husband, Steven of Exeter, Rhode Island; and Laura Mullikin and her husband, Jerry of Enfield, Connecticut. She also leaves behind four grandchildren: Michael DiMaio and his fiancée, Katie Bruell of Canton, Massachusetts; Jillian LaCaresse and her husband, Jayson, of Marlborough, Connecticut; Brittany Croasdale of Marlborough, Connecticut; Gabriel Croasdale, of Fort Hood, Texas and one great-grandchild Vivian LaCaresse of Marlborough, Connecticut. Jan leaves behind: her brother, Ronald Parkinson and his wife, Gina of Newton, Massachusetts; and her brother-in-law, John Moulson of Preston, Connecticut. She was predeceased by her son-in-law Anthony-Joseph DiMaio of Woodbury, Connecticut, and her sister, Beverly Moulson of Preston, Connecticut.
Jan enjoyed reading historical fiction and biographies, spending time with her family, gardening, running carpools, caning chairs with her sister, and having a hot cup of tea. For many years, Jan enjoyed being a Girl Scouts Troop Leader. Jan was an active parishioner and could be found volunteering her time on Sunday mornings at the Kingston Congregational Church in Kingston, Rhode Island. She also thoroughly enjoyed vacationing each summer with her family in Westerly.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be sent to the University of Rhode Island Foundation at 45 Upper College Road, Kingston, RI, 02881 in her memory.
