Joseph Anthony Grillo
January 22, 1928 ~ December 23, 2020 (age 92) 92 Years Old
Joseph Grillo, 92, of Stonington, CT, passed away on December 23, 2020 at Westerly Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mary Elaine (Tate) Grillo. Born in New London, CT on January, 22nd 1928, he was the son of the late Carmello and Virginia Grillo.
Joseph was a graduate of Chapman Technical High School – Class of 1946. He was a U.S Navy Veteran with service from 1947-1953 and then 1959-1963. After leaving the U.S. Navy, he worked as a machinist at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in New London, CT before retiring in 1990. Joseph liked to keep in touch with all of his Navy shipmates, family, and friends via email and Facebook on his computer. He also loved to work in his vegetable garden when he was younger, crossword puzzles, classic movies, CB radios, oil painting, model building, and, at one time, repairing old TV’s and clocks.
He leaves his children Michael Grillo of Preston, CT and Julie Grillo of Stonington, CT; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Peter Grillo, Dominic Grillo, and sisters Sarah Bonfoey, Antoinette Scanllon, Mary Bryson, and Josephine Grillo
Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Due to the Covid restrictions, services for Joseph will be held in the future at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his name to Direct Relief or The DAV (Disabled American Veterans) Charitable Service Trust.
