Nyca C. Hall

February 22, 1932 ~ December 25, 2020 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Tribute

Nyca Hall, 88, of Westerly, RI, passed away on Friday, December 25, 2020 at The Westerly Hospital. Born February 22, 1932, in Orange, Massachusetts, she was one of three children born to the late Mary and Erroll Crowl.
Nyca was the loving wife of Arnold Hall for the past 62 years. They spent the early part of their marriage in Noank, CT, where she was an active member of the Noank Baptist Church. Though moving several times, the majority of their years were spent in the village of Avondale, along the Pawcatuck river. When not out sailing or cruising the river in their electric launch, Nyca could often be found sitting on her front porch sharing a cup of tea and conversation, while enjoying the view of boats traveling the river.
A lifelong athlete and energetic person, Nyca was a lifeguard as well as captain of her high school basketball team. During her childhood she discovered her love of singing, and sang with her two sisters on a local radio station. Her love of music continued into adulthood as she sang in the choir of Central Baptist church in Westerly, where she was a member for over forty years. Nyca also found joy in sewing, earning accolades for the clothing she sewed for her children and grandchildren.
Nyca was an extremely warm, empathetic, welcoming, and witty person who enjoyed entertaining and decorating, setting a wonderful table and hosting many functions in her home. Her personality and sense of humor made everyone comfortable and at ease. A graduate of Worcester Memorial Hospital Nursing School, she worked as an RN in several hospitals, public health, as well as nursing homes over the course of her career.
A loving mother to her daughter Adrienne (Matthew Thomsen) and her son Grant, Nyca also leaves two beautiful granddaughters, Mallory and Helena Hall-Thomsen, whom she cherished dearly, as well as her sister Sylvia Lawson and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marion Deegan, and her son’s fiancé, Alicia Bragg.
