Shirley Marie Millar

Shirley Marie (Prater) Millar, 79 of North Stonington, CT passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Apple Rehab Watch Hill.  She was the loving wife of William A. Millar, II.  Born on February 6, 1941 in Nashville, TN, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Ruby (Maxwell) Prater.  

Shirley worked as a staff assistant with the United States Government Department of Health and Human Services in the Indian Health Services division, and was also a staff assistant for the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation for many years. Even though she was a hard worker, she knew how to live life.  She loved dancing, Bob Dylan was her absolute favorite artist, she loved to read, and she enjoyed traveling. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Besides her husband Bill, she leaves behind her daughters E. Patrice Gribbon and S. Penny Harris; 6 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; as well as her beloved dog Willow. She was preceded in death by her son Prater Green.

Any services are being held off for the time being and will be arranged privately at the convenience of the family in Tennessee.
