Virginia L. Bonk

Virginia L. (Cate)”Ginnie” Bonk, 84 of Harbor Drive Westerly, RI died peacefully on Monday May 4, 2020 after courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved the wife of the late Stanley P. Bonk who predeceased her on December 3, 2017.
Born in Westerly, RI on March 31, 1936 she was the daughter of the late Neal Wendell and Margaret (Mertinath) Cate.
Mrs. Bonk was an Executive Assistant at the Westerly Hospital for many years before her retirement. She was a life-long member of the Christ Episcopal Church where she served as Senior Warden and a long-time member of the Vestry.
Ginnie enjoyed performing with local theatre groups throughout Rhode Island and Connecticut. She also was an avid reader and also enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing cards.
Ginnie will be sadly missed by her two children, Julie Dugas and her husband Walter of Westerly and William Lyman and his wife Elana of Hope Valley, RI. She was the loving grandmother of, Michael, Jeffrey, Kelly, Christopher, Jennifer, Heath and Brandon and great grandmother of, Logan, Devan, Dylan, Tyler, Noah, Jaxton, Ryan , Kyle, Jayden and Alyvia. She was predeceased by her sister, Marion Cate.
Due to the current circumstances surrounding COVID-19, a celebration of her life will be held at Christ Episcopal Church at a later time and date. Burial will burial will be private in River Bend Cemetery.
