Virgina V Knight

Virginia V. Knight, 96 of Noank, CT died peacefully on Thursday February 16, 2017. She was the beloved wife of the late George R. Knight.
Born in Lynchburg, VA on February 17, 1920 she was the daughter of the late Neeley and Vera (Higgins) Smith. The family eventually moved to Portland Me where she met the love of her life. She and George were happily married for 59 years.
They moved to Noank, CT where they began their family. Ginny, along with her best friend, Dorothy Steele, started the Noank Baptist Church Nursery School where they both lovingly taught for many years. The nursery school is still in operation.
She will be sadly missed by her four daughters; Joan Welgoss, Susan Ewing, Julie Clachrie and Lisa Knight, seven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren, as well as, her sister Jean Barnes and brother Clayton Smith.
