Nancy M. Martell

Nancy M. (Sorel) Martell, of 20 Colonial Village Road, Ashaway, RI, died peacefully on Friday, February 3, 2017 at Rhode Island Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Oscar C. Martell Jr.
Born in Providence, RI, on January 16, 1961 she was the daughter of Edward Sorel Jr. and the late Margaret Ann (White) Sorel.
Nancy graduated from the University of Rhode Island. She worked at American Power Conversion and the Animal Rescue League in Peacedale, RI. At the time of her death she was a librarian at the Ashaway Free Library where she had started as a volunteer doing story hour and crafts with the children.
Nancy was a devoted communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church in Ashaway and taught catechism for many years.
Besides her husband of 37 years and her father, she will be sadly missed by her two daughters; Emily S. Martell and Marissa A. Martell both of Ashaway. She also leaves her brother and sisters; Carolyn Hart of Beacon Falls CT, Edward Sorel III of Richmond, RI and Victoria Sorel of Des Moines, IA as well as two nephews and a niece.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Victory Church, 169 Main St. Ashaway, RI.
